4. Right to Written Lease Agreements
Tenants are entitled to a clear and comprehensive lease agreement that outlines terms, rent amount, payment due dates, and other conditions. Verbal agreements are discouraged as they can be difficult to enforce. 5. Right to Security Deposit Protection Security deposits must be returned within 30 days of moving out, minus deductions for damages or unpaid rent. Landlords must provide an itemized list of deductions if they withhold any part of the deposit. 6. Right to Terminate a Lease Under Certain Conditions Tenants can terminate a lease if the landlord fails to address habitability issues after being notified in writing.
