Stick with stores you know! Shopping online is a lot like shopping in real life, go places you know and you feel comfortable. Remember, shipping items back from online shopping can cost money. Try and shop from places local, and go in the store for returns. 
Look for the lock. On the Online Safety page, you can learn about safe shopping online. Look for the lock icon in the top left of a web browser. This lock means you're shopping safe. This is a secure encryption to protect your information. Most websites have them now, even non shopping sites. 
No online shopping site needs your Social Security number or your birthday to do business. However, if crooks get them and your credit card number, they can do a lot of damage. The more scammers know, the easier it is to steal your identity. ​
Try to avoid using your debit card online and check your bank statements regularly. If your debit card is compromised, scammers have direct access to your bank funds. See something wrong on your statement? Contact your bank immediately!
